Fantastic experience. Great food - Stuffed Fry Bread with Ground Bison and Braised Shredded Bison; and Fry Bread Nuggets - were excellent as was the services. Highly recommended if you're in the area.
Great food, great flavors ! They make some fun bowls with quinoa , have a killer fried bread (like an unsweetened donut) and bison ribs! The bowls can have ground or shredded bison which you don't see often at fast food. A little more pricy but you're getting good quantity and quality. - unique spot! I didn't get pics of food cuz I ate too fast!
The frybread nuggets are SO delicious and a must share. They load your bowl or taco with the meat - the shredded bison is flavorful and pairs nicely with the sour cream and chipotle sauce. Loved the corn and hominy sides!
Bro, I read a review that they said the food was saltless. That person could not be any more wrong. The food was amazing. Well balanced with the seasoning. I tried to get the ribs but I was too late as they sold out. Got the Indian taco instead. It was shredded bison. Taste just like Mexican shredded beef. The serving is good. I was satisfied with what I paid. Got the fry bread nuggets too. Things were like little donuts. I wanted to get another box but couldn't go in overload. The location seemed good. No issues. Nice vibe inside. Choice to eat in or out. The best part was the service. Not sure the name of the dude but it was the definition of good customer service. Friendly and kind. Seemed like he wanted to be there. Very helpful with picking my food. 6/5
Loved it, delicious and fast friendly service. Fry bread nuggets are a must if you have a sweet tooth like me. I got the fry bread base with chicken and many fresh toppings. Portion was huge and could be two meals if you plan ahead. There's parking in the lot and seating inside and outside.
Super friendly and quick service with high quality food and affordable prices. They serve contemporary American Indian food and state they use Osage family recipes. When entering you place you order at a counter "chipotle style" everyone is so friendly and they will help you with your selection as you go through the line.
I am always looking for indigenous food after having visited Wahpepahs Kitchen in San Fran. We don't have any on the east coast My boyfriend found Tocabe and without even asking took us straight there! The location is in a convenient low traffic area so parking isn't bad. There is outdoor seating (though it was up for cleaning when we stopped by.) Inside you will go up to the counter to order your bowl that Tocabe's employees will make in front of you. We got the shredded bison posu bowl and a side of bread nuggets. Both were really good. I was trying to remember everything so I could make my own bowl back in SC but Tocabe later reached out and informed me they ship out Harvest Meals! I love this and am looking forward to supporting their business from across the way. If you're in the area I highly recommend. The food is great and the staff is very kind.
Omg the bowls are so delicious I go here all the time when I visit Colorado amazing dishes and so worth your Money it's expensive but sooo worth it I wish they had one in Philly The service is fast and easy to do you order ahead or you order there and they explain everything and so many options too also drinks are refills too The place is big and nice and super clean the staff are amazing and are super friendly service love it a lot of seating and all
Tocabe is a gem, serving delicious Native dishes and flavors! I appreciate how customizable the meals are. I don't think I've had the same meal twice but the flavors are so amazing that I always enjoy the meal. You pick a base for your meal - fry bread is a must try, or if you're looking for a healthier option you can pick rice or a red quinoa. You then add your proteins - a selection of different beans and meats. Then you pick your side toppings. I really like the hominy but beware it's spicy! There are many options to choose from and they're all flavorful and seasoned well. The service is great & the staff are friendly. The restaurant is light, open and clean. You can choose to dine in, take your meal to go or enjoy your meal on their outdoor patio.
Tocabe has been on my list to explore for a while, since I love trying various different cuisines and I have never tried Native American food before, and I'm glad I could stop by to try out the delicious and interesting food that Tocabe has to offer! We paid a visit to this restaurant on a Sunday around 12pm, ordered our food and received our order quickly (~5 minutes) after ordering. There were a decent amount of other customers - I wanted to try out the bison ribs, but unfortunately they were sold out! I would probably recommend coming earlier to the restaurant if you are looking to try out that specific option. As for parking, there are limited parking slots next to the restaurant and there are a decent amount of street side parking. As the other reviews have mentioned in terms of ambiance, Tocabe is a fast dining option where you pick the ingredients that go on top of your food in a Chipotle-style format. After picking your selections, you pay at the register and self seat and bus your trays. I got the Indian Taco and Fry Bread with wojapi cup, both came with the indian fry bread which was interesting as I have not tried this type of bread before. The fry bread has a nice texture, I would describe it as a cross between funnel cake and tortilla - slightly crispy on the outside and soft inside. As for the individual entrees: The Indian Taco ($15) is accompanied with meat, beans, vegetables, and cheese on top. I chose shredded bison as I haven't had bison before - bison is a fairly lean meat and hearty, I'm a fan! The sauces provided had a combination of standard and unique for tacos, from sour cream and salsa/chilis. I would say the most delicious option was the Osage hominy, a corn salsa that had a nice blend of slight spice, sweet, and savoriness. A relatively healthy bowl of food if you are looking to enjoy hearty textures. The Fry Bread with wojapi cup ($7) was decent, the wojapi cup is basically a saucier Açaí bowl in terms of flavor. You can dip the fry bread into the cup for flavor or even just eat straight from the wojapi cup if you would like. You will probably spent $12 - $25 for a meal here, which is decent for the quality and quantity of food. Tocabe was definitely an unique dining experience due to the exposure to a new type of cuisine, which was neat! I would definitely like to revisit someday and try out the other options that Tocabe has to offer.
